Best Santorini Wedding Venues for 2025 & 2026

What to look for in a Santorini wedding venue
The right Santorini wedding venue is the one that fits four things: your guest count, your style, your season and your sunset timing. A 100-guest celebration on an Oia cliff terrace will feel cramped no matter how beautiful the view; a 12-guest elopement at a Pyrgos vineyard estate will feel lost in the scale. Begin with realistic numbers and let the venue follow.
Beyond capacity, consider the journey for your guests. Cliff venues often involve hundreds of steps and uneven cobble; this is a meaningful constraint if older guests or anyone with mobility needs is attending. Reception versus ceremony separation also matters: some couples love the drama of moving from a cliff ceremony to a vineyard reception; others find the logistics exhausting.
Caldera cliff venues, Oia
Oia is the picture in your head when you think of Santorini. The blue domes, the whitewashed walls, the famous sunset. Wedding venues here are typically boutique hotels and private terraces hung on the caldera wall, with capacities ranging from 2 to about 80 guests.
The strengths are unmatched: the most cinematic ceremony backdrop on earth, photography that needs no embellishment, and the gravitational pull of Oia itself for your guests' wider stay. The constraints are real: limited capacity, premium pricing, narrow sunset slots that book 12–18 months out, and considerable foot traffic during peak hours. For couples committed to the iconic Santorini imagery, no other venue type compares.
Cave-house terraces, Imerovigli
One village south of Oia, three hundred feet higher on the caldera, sits Imerovigli — the highest point of the rim. Wedding venues here are often built into the volcanic rock: vaulted cave houses with whitewashed plunge pools and dazzling, uninterrupted views toward Skaros and Oia in the distance.
Imerovigli's mood is quieter, more reverent, more intimate. Capacity is typically 2–40 guests. We use Imerovigli often for elopements and micro-weddings precisely because the venues feel like private worlds, invisible from the road above. Photography opportunities are extraordinary: Skaros at golden hour is one of the most photogenic outcrops in the Cyclades.
Vineyard estates, Pyrgos
Inland from the caldera, on the highest interior hill of Santorini, sits the medieval village of Pyrgos. Around it spreads the unique kouloura vineyard landscape — ancient vines woven into low baskets to shield grapes from the wind — and within it sit private estates that double as wedding venues.
The mood is entirely different from the cliffs: rustic, terracotta-toned, agricultural. Stone walls, olive trees, long farmhouse tables. Capacity scales beautifully — 40 to 200 guests with ease — and the wine is some of the most distinctive in Greece. Many of our couples combine a cliff ceremony in Oia with a vineyard reception in Pyrgos; the contrast between cinematic and intimate creates an unforgettable day.
Boutique rooftops, Fira
Fira is Santorini's capital — busier, livelier, with more restaurants, more nightlife, more accessibility. Wedding venues here are largely boutique hotel rooftops layered down the caldera, often with infinity pools and floor-to-ceiling glass. Capacity 20–120.
The advantages are practical: guests can walk to dinner, accommodation options are broader, and the late-evening energy is real. The downside is that Fira can feel less private than Oia or Imerovigli — but for couples who want urban-chic glamour and a wedding that flows naturally into a long night out, Fira is unrivalled.
Private villas, Akrotiri
At the southwestern end of the island, Akrotiri offers something rare for Santorini: privacy and space. Private villa venues come with sprawling gardens, sea-view pools, and the possibility of complete property buyout for several days. We see Akrotiri chosen most often by couples planning multi-day celebrations, by families travelling together, and by anyone who genuinely values seclusion.
Capacity 30–150 with full buyout. The trade-off is distance from the caldera nightlife — but Akrotiri has the ancient minoan city, the famous Red Beach, and an entirely different, more contemplative side of Santorini.
Beachfront venues, Perissa & Kamari
The black volcanic sand beaches of Perissa and Kamari are Santorini's quiet secret. The visual contrast — jet-black sand against white linen and the blue Aegean — produces some of the most striking wedding photography on the island. Beach clubs along the shore offer relaxed elegance: long tables in the sand, bare feet, lanterns swaying as the light dies.
The mood is intentionally informal. If formal cliff-edge ceremony imagery is your priority, this is not the venue type for you. If barefoot, sea-breeze, lantern-lit celebration is closer to your heart, Perissa and Kamari deliver in spades. Capacity 20–150.
Sunset timing by season
Santorini sunset times shift considerably across the wedding season — and ceremony timing must adjust accordingly. As a rough guide:
- Late April: sunset around 19:55
- Mid May: 20:25
- Mid June (peak): 20:50
- Mid July: 20:50
- Mid August: 20:25
- Mid September: 19:40
- Early October: 19:00
For sunset ceremonies, we recommend beginning 75–90 minutes before sunset — enough time for the ceremony, the family photos, and the golden-hour couple portraits while the light is still at its most beautiful.
Photography locations near each venue
Beyond the venue itself, every Santorini wedding includes a "couple portrait" walk to nearby spots. Some of our favourites: the blue-domed churches near Oia castle (early morning, before the crowds); the windmills above Imerovigli; the cobbled lanes of Pyrgos castle ruins; the abandoned cave houses near Fira; the lighthouse at Akrotiri at twilight. We schedule these walks into the day's timeline so they never feel rushed.
