Frequently Asked Questions
Twenty honest answers from fifteen years of experience.
Yes. Foreign nationals can be legally married in Greece. Both partners must provide an apostilled birth certificate, single-status certificate (declaration of no impediment), valid passport and a sworn translation into Greek. We handle every step of the paperwork — apostille verification, translation, submission to the local Town Hall (Dimarcheio), and scheduling the civil officer.
Alternatively, many couples choose a symbolic ceremony in Santorini (with all the romance, none of the paperwork) and complete the legal marriage privately at home before or after. Both are equally popular with our couples.
For peak-season weddings (May–June and September–early October), we strongly recommend booking 12–18 months ahead, particularly if you want a specific sunset slot at the most coveted cliff venues. For shoulder season (April, late October), 8–10 months is comfortable. Elopements can often be planned with as little as 8 weeks' notice, although the most beautiful venues will already be reserved.
Our favourite months are May, June, September and early October — warm but not hot, beautifully lit, with manageable crowds. July and August are spectacular but can reach 32°C+ and book up earliest. Off-season weddings in late October and April have a particular quiet magic that some couples actively prefer.
From two to two hundred — though venue choice dictates the upper limit. Caldera cliff venues in Oia cap at around 60–80 guests; vineyard estates in Pyrgos accommodate 150+; private villas in Akrotiri can be bought out for groups of 200. Tell us your number first and we'll suggest the venue types that fit best.
Most weddings we plan fall between €15,000 and €120,000. Intimate elopements start at €8,500 in our packages; medium weddings of 40–60 guests typically land between €25,000–€45,000; full destination weddings of 100+ guests sit between €60,000–€120,000+. See our complete budget breakdown for a category-by-category walk-through.
Both. We have a carefully curated network of vetted vendors — photographers, florists, musicians, caterers — whom we have worked with for years and trust completely. However, if you have a favourite photographer travelling with you from home or a specific musician in mind, we will integrate them with our team seamlessly.
Yes. From the Caldera Celebration package upwards we coordinate room blocks at preferred boutique hotels with rates we negotiate on your behalf. We also arrange villa rentals for extended families travelling together, and we handle group transfers between accommodation, ceremony and reception.
Rain in Santorini between May and September is extremely rare — less than a 4% probability on any given day. Nevertheless, for every outdoor ceremony we agree a covered backup plan in writing at the time of booking and trigger it four hours before the ceremony if weather genuinely warrants. We have never had a wedding cancelled due to weather in fifteen years.
Absolutely — and with our whole hearts. Greece legalised same-sex civil marriage in February 2024, but we had been planning beautiful same-sex symbolic ceremonies for many years before that. Every couple deserves the same celebration, the same craft, the same care. Our team includes openly LGBTQ+ members, and we work only with vendors who share our values.
Our core team speaks English, Greek, Italian, French, Spanish and German. We can arrange officiants in any of those plus Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Hebrew and Mandarin. Bilingual ceremonies are extremely common — we have planned weddings in three languages simultaneously.
With pleasure. Honeymoon planning is included in our Signature package and available as an add-on with every other package. We can build itineraries across the Greek islands (Milos, Folegandros, Naxos, Crete), into Athens for a few cultured days, or across the Aegean to Türkiye. We can also arrange private yacht charters.
Each partner needs: (1) apostilled birth certificate, (2) apostilled certificate of no impediment / single-status certificate issued within the last 6 months, (3) valid passport, and (4) if previously married, the apostilled divorce decree or death certificate. All documents are translated into Greek by a sworn translator and submitted to the local Town Hall a minimum of 8 working days before the wedding. We manage every step.
A site visit typically spans 2–3 days. We organise venue tours (3–5 in the right shortlist), a chef's tasting menu, a meeting with the floral designer, a sunset ceremony rehearsal at your shortlisted venue, and accommodation recommendations during your stay. Most couples find their final venue during this visit.
Yes — and we encourage it. Symbolic ceremonies are entirely yours to shape: your vows, your readings, your music, your rituals. We have woven in everything from sand ceremonies to handfasting, from Quaker silence to Greek Orthodox blessings, from string quartets to a grandmother singing a single hymn. Civil ceremonies have slightly more legal structure but still allow custom vows and music.
A 30% non-refundable deposit secures your date. A second 40% payment is due 90 days before the wedding, and the remaining 30% is due 14 days before. For Signature weddings we offer custom schedules including monthly instalments. All payments by international wire transfer; invoices are itemised and VAT-compliant.
We work with a deeply trusted core network we have built over fifteen years — but it is not a closed list. We are constantly adding emerging photographers and florists whose work moves us, and we welcome vendors you bring from home. Our vendor list is a starting point, not a constraint.
Send us an enquiry through our contact page. Within 24 hours one of our senior planners writes to you personally. We schedule a complimentary 45-minute discovery call (video or phone), then send a bespoke planning proposal with venue options, framework and a transparent budget. If it feels right to both sides, you sign the Planning Agreement and pay the deposit. We begin work the next day.
Yes. Our public gallery shows a curated selection of recent work. After your first call, we send a private portfolio of complete weddings (every image, every detail) that align with your style and scale. Some couples specifically ask to see a wedding of similar guest count and budget — we can always provide one.
Life happens. Postponements are accommodated whenever feasible — your deposit transfers to the new date, and we negotiate with vendors to do the same. Most vendors comply when given reasonable notice. Cancellations after the deposit are non-refundable, which is why we strongly recommend wedding insurance.
Strongly. We recommend dedicated wedding insurance for all couples — typically €150–€400 — covering cancellation, vendor failure, weather, illness and lost rings. We can refer you to UK, US and EU providers. Standard travel insurance is also wise for your guests.
